Father Bart Tolleson celebrated the first Extraordinary Form Mass in many years at Holy Cross Parish in Townsend, Montana on September 3, 2016. Father celebrated a Low Mass with about 40 attendees and discussed "humility in imitation of Christ" in his sermon.
Many of the attendees were from the Gallatin Valley/Bozeman area, with some from Helena, and some local attendees. After Mass one woman remarked about her mother always lamented the changes in the Mass in the 1970s and she could not understand why.
After her first Extraordinary Form Mass, she now understood why her mother felt that way. She also remarked that her teenage son may be interested in learning the serve the Extraordinary Form. Thank you and congratulations to Father and all the people that made this Mass success!
Masses will be celebrated monthly into the future and work is beginning on a schola to begin celebrating sung Masses.
